This was the first time that I've eaten at the Open Rice Kitchen, but I've heard from UCD students that the restaurant serves good and inexpensive Chinese food and drinks. We went there before noon and only had a couple of people before us. There's one line where you make your order, pay, take the number given to you for your table, so your food can be brought to you, and sit down. The young lady taking our order was friendly and efficient. I also appreciate that they have a tap and pay machine. The prices were inexpensive, especially in today's economy. I appreciate that prices are affordable for everyone, especially for the college students. Here's what we ordered: 1-$7.00-Beef Chow Fun 1-$5.00(?) Salt & Pepper Calamari (without jalapeños) 1-$2.50-Thai iced tea 1-$2.50-Original Black Tea Boba -The beef chow fun was a little oilier than what I'm used to, but it was flavorful and pretty good. -I enjoyed the calamari, but my family member thought it was a little too salty. -The Thai iced tea was tasty and on point. -The original black tea boba drink was thirst quenching. Unfortunately, some of the boba (tapioca pearls) tasted overcooked. The dining room was neat and clean and so were the bathrooms. We'll be back.

Super generous portions for the price. The pork belly had a delicious balance of fried and soft parts. Also very affordable price for boba.

This place was pretty good. The price was pretty reasonable for everything. About the 6-15$ range so very budget friendly. The portion sizes are pretty big and well seasoned.

Super cute and quaint spot in Davis! I'm a huge fan of the affordability- I got a boba and pork belly fried rice for only $11. Fried rice was crispy and had a hefty portion, and boba was pretty standard. It's pretty loud in the restaurant, so it was sometimes hard to hear the staff. That being said, placing my order was a quick and fairly easy process and it took less than 10 minutes to get my food. Would definitely come back when I'm in Davis!

Come here several times before it's a great place to come and grab food and appetizers when you wanna have beer. They have great quantity for the price that you pay. It's great deals for the whole menu. When you come in there, you greeted right away and the cashier is usually super Duper nice. It's an open concept with tables and chairs. There's always music playing in the background when you place an order they're usually really busy. You can wait anywhere between 10 to 20 minutes which still isn't too bad. They also make Boba there if you just want a snack there's something for everybody on the menu and it's cheap.

Good food, large portions, cheap cost. Fried rice is sometimes off seasoned, but still delicious. Their popcorn chicken is the closest thing I have found at davis that tastes like Taiwanese popcorn chicken. It's really good. If you haven't tried this place I highly recommend you give it a try.
